All rural Elgeyo Marakwet land is agricultural. LCB consent is required for all transactions.
Kerio Valley Specific Considerations
The Kerio Valley has some specific issues:
Periodic flooding along the Kerio River. Community grazing rights that may not be visible in the formal title. Relative remoteness (road access can be seasonal in some areas). Lower court and registry service presence compared to the highlands.
For Kerio Valley land: physical field verification is particularly important given the remoteness and the informality of some land use arrangements.
